The
International Seminar is organised by the Institute of Librarianship of the
University of Parma in collaboration with the School of Information
Studies of the University of Northumbria at Newcastle, in the framework of the
joint International Master in Information Studies by distance, started in
academic year 2000-2001.
Aim
The purpose of the Seminar is to stimulate thought and discussion
about the trends and issues of cooperation in Library and Information
Studies. In particular the Seminar will help:
to understand issues of partnership of the current international projects
and experiences of alliances and collaborative courses in library education;
to measure the potential usefulness of the learning methodology as cost
effective distance learning;
to describe the international core competencies taught at international
level.
Experiences at national and international level will contribute
to examine the cooperation opportunities of LIS schools.
Target audience
The Seminar is devoted to:
Academic world (Professors, Researchers)
Library Managers and Technical experts (Heads of relevant library
departments; Project Managers)
Public administrators and directors of public institutions and ICT
companies (involved in electronic publishing, digitization projects, e-content
services etc.)
