I was born in Cremona, Italy.

In 1999 I took my degree in medicine (M.D.) at the University of Pavia.

I took my Ph.D. in Neuroscience in 2004 at the University of Parma.

Since 2005 I am assistant professor at the Section of Physiology of this Department.

My major research interest is a multidisciplinary approach to the study of premotor and parietal cortex by means of anatomical and physiological techniques.

Main lines of research are:

1. hodological study of cortical connections of premotor, posterior parietal and prefrontal areas;
2. elettrophysiological study of neural properties of ventral premotor and inferior parietal cortex (mainly in respect to sensori-motor transformations);
3. study of the role of premotor, parietal and prefrontal areas in cognitive functions such as action perception and relationship between action perception and cognition.

My publications on international peer-reviewed journals and edited books are related to the anatomy of premotor and parietal cortex and to neurophysiology of action understanding.
