KNOWLEDGE IS FREEDOM
Public engagement is the set of non-profit activities aimed at a non-academic public with educational, cultural and societal development value through which the University communicates the benefits of education and the results of research.
The University of Parma, also in cooperation with organisations, associations and companies, organises events every year for citizens of all ages
Public Engagement activities:
- organisation of cultural activities of public benefit (e.g. concerts, theatre performances, film shows, sporting events, exhibitions and other events open to the community);
- scientific dissemination (e.g. publications dedicated to the non-academic public, production of radio and television programmes, publication and management of websites and other social channels of communication and scientific dissemination);
- initiatives to involve citizens in research (e.g. debates, science festivals and cafés, online consultations, citizen science and contamination labs);
- activities involving and interacting with the school world (e.g. simulations, hands-on experiments and other laboratory activities).

History
The history of the University of Parma from the Middle Ages to the present, the Rectors since the Unification of Italy and the Honorary Professors of our University.
The international dimension
The University of Parma promotes a number of actions to strengthen its international dimension through the strengthening of collaborative relationships with universities and other national, European and international institutions, with the aim of developing teaching, research and third mission. Participation in the main mobility and exchange programs (ERASMUS) is extended with other Programs promoted and financed by the University (WIDE, OVERWORLD).
Research Policy
To ensure the effectiveness of procedures related to research activities, several actions were implemented: the establishment of specific regulations governing the implementation of research projects; the publication of the Strategic Plan with the definition of the objectives and actions of greatest impact in the various areas of relevance including research; the drafting of the "Guidelines for Good Scientific Practice and Dissemination of Research"; the establishment of a "Board for the Ethics of Non-Medical Research on the Person" (Research Ethic Board); the publication and implementation of a "Gender Equality Plan" (Gender Equality Plan); and the establishment of the University Research Commission, with advisory and propositional functions regarding the University's research support and development strategies.
International Research
The University staff involved in European and international calls may receive:
- assistance in the design and review of draft project proposals,
- support in managing a research project,
- training on major community scientific research programs,
- information on funding opportunities for international research
At the departmental level, research support activities are assisted by Referents/Research Managers (PTAs) and Directors' Delegates for Research (teaching staff).
At the central level, the European and International Research Support Unit is active.
