In the field of waste prevention, a number of initiatives have been launched over the past two years, covering both separate waste collection and special waste. Of particular importance is the adoption of policies for the reuse of decommissioned IT equipment and furniture still in good condition; In line with this approach, the University donates disused computers, monitors, printers and accessories to associations, educational institutions and other public and private bodies that work towards objectives of public interest and have notified the University of their need in advance.
The promotion of the use of specially designed UNIPR-branded personal water bottles was undertaken with the aim of reducing the use of plastic bottles, an objective to which the installation (by 2026) of dedicated drinking water dispensers within various University campuses is also linked; this represents a significant first step in a policy to reduce plastic use, moving towards UNIPR’s ‘plastic-free’ goal.
