PAPER WEEK

Paper Week is the leading national event dedicated to education and raising awareness about the world of paper, cardboard and their recycling. It takes place from 13 to 19 April and involves cities and regions with hundreds of initiatives designed to highlight the value of a sector in which Italy is a European leader: the recycling of paper and cardboard, one of the key strengths of the national circular economy.

The aim of the week is to demonstrate, through various means and activities, how household recycling is the starting point for an efficient industrial process, capable of generating tangible benefits for the environment, communities and the economy.

The event is promoted by Comieco and is supported by the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, ANCI and Utilitalia, in collaboration with the Paper and Graphics Federation and UNIRIMA.

During the same week, the University of Parma will also be taking part in Paper Week, hosting events, meetings and educational activities dedicated to paper recycling and sustainability, thereby contributing to the promotion of a circular economy culture in the region.

April 13, 2026 – throughout the year

Book Crossing. Installation of bookshelves to allow students and staff to leave books for others to find, read, and put back into circulation.

Creative Workshop: “Re-Pack the Future”.
Two creative workshops in which students, divided into teams, will:
design a new sustainable packaging solution for a food or non-food product by using or rethinking paper and cardboard (goal: re-think the pack);
imagine reuse solutions for paper or cardboard packaging of food or non-food products (goal: pack-life extension).
