How to Access

Students already enrolled at the University of Parma who wish to access the accommodations provided by the CAI Inclusion Service are required to follow the procedure outlined below.

  1. Upload your documentation — Log in to the ESSE3 platform (online student office) and upload your certificate or diagnosis of Disability, Invalidity, SLD or SEN.
  2. Request an initial meeting — Once your documentation has been uploaded, send an email to cai@unipr.it. Within four working days of your request, the CAI will get back to you to arrange a date and time for the meeting.
  3. Attend the meeting — During the meeting, the student will be guided towards the compensatory and exemption measures and CAI services available, for which they may subsequently submit an application following the procedures indicated. On the day of the appointment, please bring a copy of your certificate or diagnosis.

Prospective students: the orientation meeting

Even before deciding which degree programme to enrol in, students with Disability, Invalidity, SLD and SEN can meet the Rector's Delegate and the CAI team to:

  • jointly explore the most suitable and accessible academic path, also with a view to future employment
  • receive initial information on grants and technical and educational tools
  • consider the most appropriate support measures for individual needs and the possibility of a personalised study plan

Mobility

Students with certified mobility impairments may use a free transport service provided by the University.

Students with certified mobility impairments may use a free accompaniment and assistance service provided by dedicated staff within the University's premises.

Complete the Personal Assistance Service Form in its entirety and send it by email to protocollo@unipr.it.

Incomplete or unsigned forms will not be considered. For organisational reasons, the form must be submitted at least ten days before the requested service date.

Students with specific needs and/or motor difficulties, whether temporary or permanent, may enquire about the possibility of obtaining a remote control or keys to independently access university buildings for classes, and/or a permit to enter the premises by car.

Study Support Tools and Measures

Students with Disability, Invalidity, SLD and SEN may borrow IT equipment free of charge.

Download the Equipment Loan Form, complete it in its entirety and send it by email to protocollo@unipr.it.

Notes

Incomplete or unsigned forms will not be considered. Equipment provided on loan may only be used for the student's own degree programme requirements.

Students with Disability, Invalidity, SLD and SEN who are experiencing difficulties in their academic journey may request to be supported by a tutor.

The peer tutor is a selected and appropriately trained student, chosen through an annual call for applications. Additionally, for specific and particular needs, the Centre's staff may identify specialist tutors from among the professionals and collaborators working at the Centre.

Students with hearing loss or impairment may request the activation of an LIS interpreter service.

Financial Benefits

Students holding a certification of disability under Italian Law 104/1992 or of civil invalidity equal to or greater than 66%, regardless of their financial or academic standing, are automatically exempt from the payment of university tuition fees, including where they enrol or are already enrolled for the purpose of obtaining a further academic qualification.

Certificates uploaded after the deadlines set by the University for enrolment will entitle students to the applicable benefits only from the subsequent tuition fee payment instalments.

Exemptions do not apply to the regional tax and stamp duty.

Compensatory Tools and Exemption Measures

Students with Disability, Invalidity, SLD and SEN may request compensatory tools and exemption measures to sit entrance tests and admission examinations for degree programmes and professional qualifications in a personalised format: additional time for written examinations, use of a calculator, etc.

More opportunities

Sport is fundamental to personal development, physical and emotional wellbeing, and as a tool for fostering inclusion.

The Centre's team includes sports professionals, in collaboration with whom the Centre organises inclusive events open to the entire university community, such as walks, day trips, relaxation sessions, etc.

It is also possible to request a consultation to identify the most suitable events and sports for individual needs, along with relevant contacts and referrals. To request a consultation, please send an email to cai@unipr.it.

The University of Parma promotes the international dimension of its degree programmes and student experience. The Regulations for the Recognition of Student Mobility for Study and Traineeship Purposes guarantee fair and inclusive access to international mobility through specific support measures. Calls for student mobility are published annually.

The CAI supports students with Disability, Invalidity, SLD and SEN in making this choice.

The University annually offers transversal learning activities aimed at developing knowledge, skills and qualities (the so-called soft skills), useful for study, life and work.

Soft skills are recognised by the European Union and periodically updated for lifelong learning, aimed at the personal fulfilment and development of every individual, active citizenship, social inclusion and employment.
