Abstract: The Kodaira dimension of a complex manifold is a complex invariant that measures the growth rate of the space of sections of the canonical bundle. In 2018, Chen and Zhang gave a definition of Kodaira dimension of an almost complex structure and studied its main properties. In this introductory talk, I will focus both on the classical and on the non-integrable case, explaining why the Kodaira dimension is important and what we can hope to (and want to) prove in the almost complex setting.
