Curriculum Vitae

Fabrizio Storti is Full Professor of structural geology at the Chemistry, Life Sciences and Environmental Sustainability Department, University of Parma, Italy. His primary research fields include the evolution of regional plicative structures, fault zones and systems and the quantification of associated deformation, the evolution of frontal sectors of orogenic systems, and passive margins affected by transcurrent activity in the post-rift stage.
During the six-year period 2017-2023 he served as Vice Rector for the Third Mission, overseeing the University relations with society in its broadest terms, from science dissemination to technology transfer and collaboration with the local productive environment. He is currently Deputy Rector.
Prof. Storti is a member ad honoris of the Academia Europaea and of the Accademia Lunigianese di Scienze Giovanni Cappellini. He was a member of the PE10 panel of the European Research Council (ERC) for four terms from 2012 to 2018, and of the College of External Reviewers of the European Science Foundation (ESF) from 2019 to 2021. He served as Chair of the Tectonics and Structural Geology Division of the European Geosciences Union (EGU) from 2009 to 2013 and as a member of the EGU Council from 2009 to 2016. Fabrizio Storti was appointed Editor-in-Chief of the international journal Tectonophysics for the three-year period 2010-2012, Executive Chief Editor of the international journal Solid Earth for the four-year period 2014-2017 and member of the Editorial Board of the international journals Geology (2016-2018) and Tectonophysics (2013-2021). Since 2003 he is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the international Journal of Structural Geology. Prof. Storti has published more than 130 scientific papers in international peer-reviewed journals and presented over 300 papers at national and international congresses.

In 2011 Fabrizio Storti established the Natural and Experimental Tectonics research group (NEXT), mostly funded by industrial grants. The group carries out research activities in two major fields: (1) integrated structural and petrophysical studies of fault-related folds, fault zones and fault systems; (2) advanced sandbox analogue modelling of geodynamic systems, including the effects of syntectonic erosion and sedimentation.
