With mobility for internship purposes, you can gain training experience abroad at a company, organization, or European or international institution. The internship can last from 2 to 12 months and can be recognized as part of your university studies.
This page provides an overview of the main features of outgoing mobility for internships.
Who can participate?
The following individuals are eligible to apply:
- Students enrolled in a bachelor's, master's, or single-cycle degree program
- Doctoral or postgraduate students
If you are a recent graduate, you can complete a postgraduate internship within 12 months of graduation, provided that you applied before obtaining your degree.
How long does the internship last?
The internship period must last:
- Minimum 60 days (2 months)
- Maximum 12 months (compatible with other periods of mobility already completed for study or internship).
Internship types
You can undertake three different types of internship:
- Curricular
This is part of your study plan. It also includes internships for theses. - Extracurricular
This is not part of your study plan, but is undertaken during your university career. - Postgraduate (training or orientation)
This is undertaken within 12 months of graduation, if the application was submitted by a student.
Where does the internship take place?
You can do your internship in one of the countries participating in the Erasmus+ program or at international organizations in other geographical areas, depending on the opportunities available in the call for applications.
The host organization can be:
- a company
- a public or private institution
- an international organization
- a university (only if it acts as a host institution and not as a place of study)
During the internship, you will not be able to take courses or exams, either at the University of Parma or at the foreign institution.
How does mobility take place?
There are two possible options:
- Physical mobility
The entire period takes place abroad in person. - Blended mobility
Part in person (at least 2 months, even if not consecutive) and part remotely.
Entirely virtual mobility is not permitted.
How do you find an internship?
Selecting the host institution is the student's responsibility. You can:
- Search for opportunities independently
- Use the platforms recommended by our office
- Ask for support from your Erasmus coordinator or the teachers of the Department's International Commission
Prepare a CV in European format and a cover letter for each institution. Please avoid sending bulk emails to multiple recipients.
The locations listed at this link are not considered eligible for Erasmus+ internships.
How is the application submitted?
Mobility for internship purposes is assigned through the Erasmus+ Single Call for Internships, published annually.
You can apply if you have already found an organization willing to host you (list A) or even if you do not yet have a confirmed location (list B).
In the latter case, you will need to find a location after applying and demonstrate that you know the language of the internship at least at level B2.
Acceptance of the scholarship
If you are selected, you must formally accept the mobility assignment within 10 days of the publication of the ranking list, through your ESSE3 profile.
