EUGreen - European University Alliance for sustainability

Parma, Oct. 28, 2025 - The University of Parma participates, through the EU GREEN Alliance (European University Alliance for Sustainability, Green Innovation and Inclusion), to the European Universities Initiative, which is profoundly changing the way we study, collaborate and do research in Europe.

The programmme was launched in 2019 by the European Commission to create a more international, innovative and competitive university system to meet the global challenges of the future.
Today there are 65 alliances already operational, bringing together over 570 universities in 35 countries and representing more than 11 million students.

EU GREEN is growing rapidly. The next goal is to involve as many students as possible.
To make participation easier, the Alliance — co-founded by the University of Parma — has created a QR code for those who wish to join EU GREEN activities.

In the coming years, mobility opportunities, joint degrees, connections with the business world and initiatives for students will be expanded.
In just two years, EU GREEN has already:

  • supported over 600 mobilities of students and staff;
  • involved over 400 researchers in joint European projects;
  • activated new joint courses and programs on sustainability, innovation, and climate change;

Joining EU GREEN means having access to:

  • more mobility opportunities (short, long, or blended), with automatic credit recognition and European Student Card;
  • flexible and personalized curricula, with courses and degrees recognized among partner universities;
  • new skills, through experiences with business, NGOs, and local communities;
  • active participation, such as the Alliance Student Council or the EU GREEN Ambassadors network;
  • official recognition (ECTS credits, certificates, attestations) for participation in activities;
  • an inclusive European community, concerned with well-being and sustainability.
