Parma, February 17, 2026 - About fifty students from all over Europe took part, in the past few days, at the University of Parma, to the EU GREEN Blended Intensive Program Sustainability of GI Supply Chains in Mediterranean countries: theories and tools, organized by Filippo Arfini Department of Economics and Management and from the Economics and management of sustainable food environment course.
A total of 54 students from the EUGREEN Alliance came to Parma to study the production system that revolves around products linked to a Geographical Indication (GI): a system with elements of great cultural, social and economic interest but at the same time with fragilities that if not managed can reduce its potential. These systems are also characterized by a high sustainability, as they are closely linked to the natural and anthropic production factors of the territories that generate them.
The BIP allowed us to understand the essence of the typical products of the territory also thanks to the collaboration of the Consorzi di Tutela of Parmigiano Reggiano Dop and Salame di Felino IGP, but especially thanks to the producers who revealed the secrets of the quality of their products. Among them The Ferrari family of the Il Botticello dairy and the Boschi family producer of Salame di Felino del Cavalier Boschi.
