Checks
With the implementation of current legislation on ISEE (pursuant to Prime Ministerial Decree no. 159 of 5 December 2013 and Ministerial Decree no. 7 November 2014, Ministerial Decree 363 of 29 December 2015 and Ministerial Decree 146 of ’1 June 2016 et seq.), checks during the issuance of ISEE certification are strengthened, thanks to the integration between the databases that feed the ISEE information system, primarily the Revenue Agency and INPS.
ER.GO will carry out a thorough check directly by the Revenue Agency and/or INPS on the self-declared parts of the Dichiarazione Sostitutiva Unica (DSU) and on ISEE attestations bearing discrepancies and/or omissions detected. It will also request the persons concerned to provide suitable documentation to prove the completeness and truthfulness of the data indicated in the DSU.
As a result of these checks, ER.GO sends to the Revenue Agency the lists of beneficiaries, so as to schedule income and assets verifications by the Finance Police.
In any case, at least 20% of the beneficiaries will be randomly selected for checks.
The company conducts all investigations deemed appropriate in collaboration with municipalities, Cadastral Offices and other offices where data relating to economic condition is stored. The University may directly access the databases of INPS, the Inland Revenue Agency and the Land Agency.
The company has no obligation to provide any prior communication to the student being checked.
Specific documentation may also be required to correct material or minor errors, which do not affect access to the benefits (Law 212/2000).
Foreign students must produce the required documentation in the appropriate USER DOSSIER section of the ER.GO website. This documentation will be subject to checks.

Administrative fines
Should the student submit false statements, their financial contributions will be withdrawn, and any payments already made will be recovered.
Similarly, payment is required for amounts that are outstanding and unpaid, i.e. university fees and contributions as applicable.
According to Article 10 of Legislative Decree 68/2012, the student will also be subject to an administrative fine, namely the payment of a sum that is triple the value of the benefit granted and enjoyed improperly.
The student will eventually lose the right to obtain any other financial benefit for the duration of the course of study.
Criminal sanctions
In the event of an untruthful statement, the University is required to report the facts to the Judicial Authority regarding the possible existence of the following crimes:
- ideological falsehood committed by a private individual in a public document (art. 483 of the Criminal Code)
- false attestation to a public official about own or others' identity and personal qualities (art. 495 of the Criminal Code)
- fraud against the State or other public body (art. 640 of the Criminal Code).
