Event description

Piazza of Climate Disarmament.

The Digital-Energy Nexus: From Data Centers to Energy Networks is an international Academy exploring the intersection between the digital and energy transitions. Through lectures, workshops and technical visits, participants examine how the growth of digital services and data centres is reshaping energy demand and, conversely, how digital technologies can make energy systems more efficient, intelligent and sustainable. The Academy brings together young researchers, professionals and international experts to address heat recovery, smart energy networks, machine learning and advanced energy management. Its goals are to develop interdisciplinary skills, foster international collaboration and produce a shared set of recommendations for responding to the challenges of the energy and climate transition.

The Academy develops over five days. Monday introduces global trends in the digital economy, the energy requirements of data centres and the structure of energy networks, alongside welcome activities, a city visit and a keynote lecture by an internationally recognised guest. On Tuesday, a technical visit to Brescia focuses on the Qarnot data centre and A2A infrastructure, with examples of heat recovery and district heating. Wednesday's lectures and workshops address demand forecasting, waste-heat recovery and machine learning applied to energy; Thursday focuses on optimisation, Model Predictive Control and smart energy management, including a visit to the Campus thermal plant. On Friday, groups consolidate their findings and prepare a policy-oriented synthesis. Guided networking, thematic round tables and informal exchanges accompany the entire week, which closes with a public presentation and discussion of the recommendations developed collectively.

The activities will be held in English language.
