Event description

Food Talks provides young people with reliable tools for understanding and exploring food-related issues that are often oversimplified or affected by misinformation. Through dialogue with academics, experts, public figures and representatives from the public and private sectors, the project addresses food sustainability, health, participation in food policies and responsible consumption. The aim is to build solid and accessible foundational knowledge that enables young people, as both citizens and consumers, to take a more informed part in decisions concerning food systems and community life.

The programme consists of five informal educational aperitifs, each devoted to a specific theme: food and sport; the role of food influencers; food policies and youth participation; reducing food waste; and the rules and challenges surrounding PDO and PGI production, with particular attention to Parmigiano Reggiano. Each event brings a University academic into dialogue with athletes, influencers, public administrators, businesses and local organisations, combining accessible research communication, first-hand perspectives and informal discussion with participants.
