Event description
Piazza of Beauty.
Archeo-lab introduces upper-secondary students to Parma's archaeological heritage through direct experience of research and public engagement. The project brings school and university students together, supporting orientation, peer exchange and continuity between school, university and professional training. Alongside knowledge of the past, it offers an up-to-date view of cultural professions and contemporary archaeology, showing how research, technology, communication and professional wellbeing can be integrated into new career paths.
Participants follow the main stages of a real archaeological campaign: preparation for excavation; excavation and digital surveying; study and cataloguing of finds; physical and geophysical analysis; restoration techniques; and archaeological marketing. Archaeologists, university students and school students also work together on proposals for displaying and communicating the site. The programme culminates in a public presentation of the research and continues into the following school year, when participating students share the experience within their own schools.
