Event description
Piazza of Beauty.
The project brings to light The Duke of Parma, an unpublished play by Fernando Pessoa preserved in manuscripts at the National Library of Portugal. Written in Elizabethan English and set in Parma, the work creates an unexpected link between the city and twentieth-century European literature. Its adaptation and staging are designed to make the text accessible to a broad audience, including young people, residents and visitors.
The project covers manuscript research and adaptation, theatrical production, promotion and two performances at Teatro Lenz in Parma on 12 and 13 February 2027. Master's students in LM39 take part through internships focused on translation and subtitling. The final performance is followed by an open discussion with the audience on the text and the creative process behind the production.
