Extension of mobility abroad

You may request an extension if:

• You have to sit an exam after the end date of your mobility period as specified in the financial agreement
• You wish to extend your mobility period to the second semester of the academic year (up to the maximum date specified in the call for applications)

Complete the application form (available in the Forms section on the Call for Applications page) and have it signed by:

• The Erasmus Coordinator at the host university
• The Departmental Erasmus Coordinator at the University of Parma

Please email the signed form to the Erasmus Office at the University of Parma at least one month before the end of your original planned period.

Once your request has been received, the Reception, Mobility and International Students Unit will also confirm your Erasmus+ SMS status for the additional period.

Approval of the extension does not automatically guarantee funding. Any grants for the additional period depend on the availability of remaining European funds.

As a general rule, the Overworld/Special Projects programme does not permit stays to be extended beyond the duration specified in the Call for Applications. This is because the specified durations are set out in the agreements between the University of Parma and its partner institutions.

In exceptional cases, an extension may be considered if the following conditions are met:

• the host university confirms in advance that it can accommodate you for a longer period
• the departmental coordinator approves the request; and
• the host country’s regulations regarding visas and/or residence permits allow for it.

Please therefore give careful consideration to:

• Whether your entry visa or residence permit is valid
• the cover provided by your health insurance
• any regulatory restrictions in the host country
• any financial considerations relating to the extension of your stay.

To apply, complete the application form (available in the 'Forms' section of the 'Call for Applications' website) and ensure it is signed by the relevant person.

• The Coordinator of the host university
• The UNIPR Departmental Contact Person.

Send the completed form to the Erasmus Office at the University of Parma at least one month before the end of the originally scheduled period.

Approval of your application will guarantee your status as an Erasmus+ exchange student, but does not guarantee funding for the additional period, which depends on the availability of remaining funds.
