What is LAT used for?

Incoming interns must sign a Learning Agreement for Traineeship (LAT) with both their home university and the University of Parma in order to begin their internship. Similar to the Learning Agreement for Study, this document lists the tasks to be performed during the internship and the skills that the student should acquire by the end of the placement.

Why is it important?

The Learning Agreement for Traineeships (LAT) is a contract signed by the intern with the host organisation and the institution of origin.

The LAT includes the traineeship's approximate start and end dates, title, content and number of working hours per week. For mixed mobility or intensive programmes, it also specifies the duration of the virtual components. The detailed programme for the traineeship period includes the activities/results to be carried out by the intern and the relevant timetable.

It also specifies the knowledge, skills, and intellectual and practical competencies (learning outcomes) that the intern will acquire by the end of the traineeship. These may include academic, analytical, communication, decision-making, ICT, innovative and creative, strategic and organisational, and linguistic skills; teamwork; initiative; adaptability; and so on.

The monitoring plan describes how and when the trainee will be monitored by the host organisation/company, the sending institution, and a third party, if applicable, during the traineeship. The assessment plan describes the criteria that will be used to evaluate the internship and its learning outcomes.

How to submit

The intern must complete the LAT, filling in all the required fields, and send it to their tutor via email in Word format for evaluation and completion. Once the LAT has been signed by all parties (the intern, the tutor at the host organisation and the home institution), the intern must send the completed form to the Erasmus Office via email.

Acceptance as an intern at the University of Parma will only be finalised once the Learning Agreement has been completed and approved by all parties. Therefore, it is mandatory to send it in before arriving in Parma.

Extend the traineeship

If the mobility period is extended, the Traineeship Learning Agreement must be amended.

In this case, the changes must be described in Table A2, while Table A must remain unchanged. These two tables must be kept together in all communications. Any changes to the internship programme must be agreed with the home institution as soon as possible. The traainee may submit a request no later than one month before the scheduled end date.

All parties must approve the changes to the Learning Agreement. Information may be exchanged electronically (e.g. via email) without the need for a paper signature. However, if national or institutional regulations require paper signatures, a signature box may be added where necessary.
