General information about Professional Master Programmes

What are Professional Master Programmes (Masters)?

These are advanced scientific courses and continuing and recurrent higher education, aimed at the acquisition and development of knowledge, skills and competences at a higher level, through which a First Level or Second Level Master programme certificate is awarded. Professional Master programmes are normally of one-year duration, taking place during the academic year in which they are established and activated. The total number of teaching activities, together with the effort required for individual study and preparation, corresponds to a teaching load of 60 university credits.

The University may issue double or joint Professional Master programmes with other Italian or foreign universities, by entering into appropriate agreements with those bodies.

The number of participants in the Master programme is determined on the basis of labour market needs and the educational sustainability of the proposing structure. Admission may require passing a selection test based on qualifications and/or examination(s). Attendance by enrolled students at the various master's activities is compulsory in the percentage defined by the Master's Executive Committee. The achievement of the university credits foreseen in the Master programme is subject to verification of the skills acquired. The Master certificate is awarded subject to the passing of a final examination to assess the overall skills acquired, also taking into account the internship and/or project work.

Teacher's card

Teachers of state educational institutions who intend to enrol or who are enrolled in study courses of the University of Parma (degree courses, single courses, training and professional refresher courses, advanced courses, Master Programmes and PhD programmes) can use the teacher bonus up to its maximum value of 500 euros, to cover all or part of the enrolment fees.
