Description and purpose

INSPIRE – Digital INnovation EcoSystem DeveloPment for the CIRcular Economy: the startups' perspective aims to analyze the dynamics of Innovation Ecosystem development supported by digital technologies, adopting the perspective of startups to foster the transition toward the Circular Economy.

Purpose

The project examines innovation ecosystems as a new organizational form to promote the transition of companies toward the circular economy, focusing on startups. It seeks to develop theories and practices to understand the motivations and risks faced by startups when collaborating with large corporations, as well as the role of digital technologies in supporting ecosystem processes toward sustainability.

Expected results

  • Identification of the risks and motivations driving startups to collaborate with large companies, and of the key factors enabling startups to operate within innovation ecosystems oriented toward the circular economy.
  • Identification of open innovation processes within sustainable ecosystems.
  • Identification of digital technologies and key KPIs that generate and analyze data within the ecosystem, supporting collaboration between firms and startups.
  • Development of the Sustainable Innovation Ecosystem Framework.

Achieved results

The project is currently ongoing and, upon completion, will lead to the development of the Sustainable Innovation Ecosystem Framework, designed from the startups’ perspective and supported by digital technologies to foster the transition toward the principles of the circular economy.
