All workstations in the University's Computer science classrooms access the Virtualization of Desktops platform based on Vmware servers that are installed in the server farm at the Campus Science and Technology.
In addition to the advantages related to the centralized management of the workstations, this type of setup also offers advantages from the point of view of the use of the workstations, which can be accessed by students not only, of course, during classes and/or exercises in the classroom, but also outside the physical location of the Computer science classroom, for example, from their laptops in the study room or from the PC connected to the home network without any modification of the work environment, according to the indications contained in the document Computer science classrooms access guide (login is required for viewing).
Two types of virtualized workstations (pools) are available depending on the teaching activities planned by the Course Units and Courses of Study.
