Parma, 19 March 2026 – More than 50 representatives from EU GREEN partner universities gathered at the University of Oradea for a meeting focused on engagement and inclusion. During the three days of discussions, participants explored joint initiatives, shared best practices, and created opportunities for dialogue among academic staff, students and institutional partners on two key areas of the alliance: the role of universities in society and the development of policies for access, diversity and inclusion.
A delegation from the University of Parma actively took part in workshops and sessions dedicated to third mission activities, libraries, sustainability, community engagement and inclusion in higher education.
A significant part of the programme focused on how universities can contribute to the development of sustainable societies and economies. Workshops examined ways of collaborating with public authorities, civil society organisations and the economic sector in order to address contemporary social challenges.
In this context, the active participation of students was central: they shared international experiences carried out within EU GREEN, explaining how these activities enriched their academic and personal development by providing opportunities to build skills and engage directly with the socio-economic environment.
Visits to the Bihor Science and Technology Park and the Technology Transfer Centre at the University of Oradea offered concrete examples of innovation and collaboration between universities, industry and public authorities.
The meeting confirmed the value of EU GREEN as a European academic community grounded in cooperation, the sharing of experience and common values such as equality, solidarity and sustainability.
For the University of Parma, whose delegation included Federica Poli, Cristina Castracani, Barbara Rondelli for the third mission activites, Vanessa Artoni for inclusion, Susanna Del Carlo and Alessandro Corradini for libraries, participation in the meeting represented an important opportunity to strengthen its European network and contribute actively to sustainability and inclusion initiatives.
