Parma, May 20, 2026 – It's called Unipr Switch, and it's a debut initiative of the University of Parma: an evening language meeting/exchange open to all Italian and international students, created to help participants get to know each other, speak Italian and English (swapping languages), and socialize in a relaxed and friendly environment.
The evening is organized by the University in collaboration with the Municipality of Parma and OltreLab, and is part of the preparations for Parma European Youth Capital 2027.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, at 6:30 pm at OltreLab in Piazzale Bertozzi. Activities will be organized in pairs or small mixed groups, with conversation prompts to help everyone interact naturally in both Italian and English.
Unipr Switch will be a kind of game: for each round, an international student will respond in Italian and an Italian student will respond in English. Roles can be reversed at each round.
The conversation topics, pre-arranged, will be chosen throughout the evening, and the timing will be marked by a gong.
Precisely because the goal is to create an informal environment for making friends, breaking down language barriers, and encouraging interaction between Italian and international students, it's important to emphasize that the initiative is open to all levels of language proficiency.
