Parma, March 26, 2026 – This year the University of Parma is participating once again in UNICORE - University Corridors for Refugees, which offers refugees the opportunity to pursue their academic careers in Italy by attending a two-year second-cycle degree course.

The overall objective of the UNICORE Program is to promote the right to higher education for refugee students in third countries through the opening of university corridors. Launched in 2019, UNICORE is promoted by 40 Italian universities with the support of UNHCR (United Nations Refugee Agency), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Caritas Italiane, the Waldensian Diaconia, the Astalli Center, and other partners.
Since the 2021-2022 academic year, the University of Parma has annually fundend two scholarships for refugee students to attend the Food Safety and Food Risk Management second-cycle degree course, taught in English.
The countries involved in the 8.0 edition, for the 2026-2027 academic year, are Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Since the 6.0 edition, the UNICORE coordination at the University of Parma has been entrusted to Michela Semprebon, Delegate to the Refugee Roundtable.
The initiative has been made possible thanks to the support of numerous local partners: ER.GO - Regional Agency for the Right to Higher Education in Emilia-Romagna, the Sant'Ilario Caritas Foundation, the Community of Sant'Egidio, CIAC Onlus (Immigration, Asylum, and International Cooperation Center of Parma and the Province), and the Synodal Commission for the Waldensian Diaconate.
The application deadline is 12:00 PM on April 17, 2026.
