CAPAS Academy - Youth Performing Heritage brings together the many artistic and media-based activities of CAPAS - theatre, choir, orchestra, music, radio, video, journalism and digital communication - in a shared creative process involving university students, secondary-school students and young people from other Italian universities. Led by the director and playwright Marco Martinelli, in collaboration with Ermanna Montanari of Albe/Ravenna Teatro, and under the artistic coordination of Beatrice Baruffini, participants revisit the myth of Orpheus to create a contemporary chorus capable of questioning the present through theatre, music and media. Developed by the University of Parma's CAPAS in partnership with the Complesso Monumentale della Pilotta, the project establishes a dialogue between myth, contemporary performance and historical, artistic and archival heritage. It culminates in autumn 2027 in a public event at Teatro Farnese, where the memory of the place meets the perspectives, imagination and active participation of younger generations.
Launched in autumn 2026, the Academy develops throughout 2027 through intensive sessions, workshops and independent group work. Marco Martinelli and Ermanna Montanari, under the artistic coordination of Beatrice Baruffini, guide the Centro Universitario Teatrale (University Drama Centre) - CUT of Parma, the Ildebrando Pizzetti University Choir, the University of Parma Orchestra and the CAPAS music group through practices of exploration, improvisation and composition inspired by the “non-school” methodology. In parallel, RadiorEvolution, VideoAteneo, StudentMag and Social CAPAS document and narrate the process through audio, video, editorial and digital content. The programme creates regular opportunities for exchange between the performing and media strands and is open to students from other universities and secondary schools. In the second half of November 2027, an intensive Fall School brings all parts of the Academy together for rehearsals and production, leading to the final public performance at Teatro Farnese in collaboration with the Complesso Monumentale della Pilotta.
