The University of Parma is a place of higher education, advanced research and dialogue with Society, the University pursues the cultural, ethical and civil growth of people and aims to contribute to the development of Society through sharing knowledge and skills.

Resting on firm roots, strong in its ancient history and tradition, but at the same time projected into the future, it is a solid, renowned and prestigious reality.

In line with the principles of its Statute, it promotes culture based on human rights, peace, solidarity, inclusion, and social, economic and environmental sustainability.

The University operates by drawing inspiration from principles of responsibility, autonomy, freedom of research and teaching, integrity, fairness and impartiality, promoting and valuing merit, and fostering the development and transmission of critical knowledge.

As a public, multidisciplinary university with an increasingly international vocation, the University of Parma focuses its action on strategic areas relevant to the quality of its educational offerings, the innovation and sustainability of its courses, and its competitiveness in the higher education landscape.

The University of Parma focuses its strategicall efforts on the comprehensive personal development, the advancement of knowledge and the promotion of critical thinking, through:

• an educational offer that is flexible, innovative, interdisciplinary and in line with the emerging needs of the Society in constant and rapid evolution;
• a scientific research of excellence, open and collaborative, able to face the great challenges of our times;
• relationships with Society (Athenaeum and Society), as a lever to generate social, economic and cultural impact, and as a channel of constant exchange with Institutions, citizens and businesses.

Teaching is based on the continuous updating of educational offerings, inclusion and care for the students along their entire university career, from welcoming programmes to entry into the working world. The Strategic Plan 2025-2030 reinforces this centrality through the expansion of support services and the strengthening and consolidation of assessment tools for a recurrent evaluation of the university experience.

Particular attention is paid to the promotion of quality, and to the continuous improvement of institutional activities. The University's Quality Policies are based on transparency, shared responsibility, active participation and enhancement of expertise, in a system that engages the entire university community. The University has developed and consolidated an Integrated Quality Management System, in line with best practices worldwide. This system let us plan, monitor, evaluate and constantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of processes, to realize a true continuous innovation, with a sustainable use of resources.

The Strategic Plan 2025-2030 orients every action towards responsible development, enhancing the territory and strengthening connections with the national and global context. This has also been made possible through the synergies that can be implemented by being a part of the EU GREEN European alliance.

The University of Parma intends to act as an engine of transition towards more equitable, responsible and digital models, integrating sustainability in all its dimensions - environmental, social, economic and cultural - within institutional policies, teaching, research and relations with Society.
