How it works

To enrol in an open-access master's degree course with verification of requirements you must:

  • submit an application for assessment;
  • after the committee's assessment, if you are eligible, proceed with enrolment or pre-enrolment (if you have not yet obtained a three-year degree).

You can apply for assessment of requirements from 12pm on 3 June 2025 to 12pm on 10 December 2025, unless otherwise stated*.

You may only apply for enrolment/pre-enrolment if you are considered:

  • eligible
  • eligible with a degree to be obtained
  • eligible with requirements to be supplemented (with or without a degree obtained).

If you are eligible (even if you have not yet obtained your degree), you must enrol or pre-enrol between 16 July and 19 December 2025, unless stated otherwise*.

If you are found to be eligible with a degree to be awarded after your application has been assessed, and you plan to graduate after the deadline for your course, you must complete the pre-enrolment procedure by the deadline and enrol by 31 March 2026.

If, upon evaluation of your application, it is deemed that you must first obtain missing CFUs in order to enrol, you will be considered eligible, provided that the requirements are met. You have until 31 March 2026 to fulfil these requirements.

Even if you have not yet obtained your degree and your degree grade is required for direct access to the course, you may be considered eligible with additional requirements.

If places remain unfilled at the end of this period, a second application window may open for certain courses.

Details of each stage of the procedure can be found in the following paragraphs.

PLEASE NOTE: Some courses may have a different deadline. Please check the deadline for your course on the relevant website (menu item ENROLL> Enrolment Methods and Deadlines).

Where to find the entry requirements

To find out the entry requirements for your chosen course, visit the relevant website (select ENROLL > Enrolment Methods and Deadlines from the menu).

How to apply for requirements evaluation

For most courses, you can apply from 12 noon on 3 June 2025 until 12 noon on 10 December 2025.

Please note that some courses may have a different deadline. We advise to check the deadline for your course on the relevant website (menu ENROLL> Enrolment methods and deadlines).

To apply for an assessment:

  • access Ess3 - Segreteria online with SPID/CIE or with the University credentials obtained during registration;
  • select the menu item SEGRETERIA>PROCEDURA DI VALUTAZIONE REQUISITI (if you have a closed previous career at our University you must select that and then click on SEGRETERIA>PROCEDURA DI VALUTAZIONE REQUISITI)
  • select the course you are interested in
  • enter your admission qualification (even if you have not yet obtained it);
  • upload the required documents (warning: remember to check the specific requirements of your course first) and confirm.

For each course, a committee will evaluate the applications received to assess eligibility.

At the end of the evaluation, the committee will issue an outcome.
Go to the next section to find out about the possible outcomes and what to do about each outcome.

Outcome: what to do?

At the end of the assessment, the committee may award the following results:

  • eligible
  • eligible with qualification to be completed
  • eligible with requirements to be integrated (with or without qualification completed)
  • incomplete documentation
  • not eligible

You will receive an email each time there is a change to your application.

ELIGIBLE

You are considered eligible if you have already obtained a degree and meet the entry requirements for the course you have applied for. You can proceed with the enrolment application (see How to enrol) by paying the first instalment (€156).

Once you have made the payment, the University will send an email confirming your enrolment with your matriculation number and another email with your institutional email address (e.g. nome.cognome@studenti.unipr.it) to the email address you provided when you enrolled.

ELIGIBLE WITH QUALIFICATION TO BE COMPLETED

You are considered eligible with qualification to be completed if you meet the entry requirements for the course you have applied for but have not yet obtained your first-cycle degree.

If you already know that you can't to do this by the deadline for your course, you must pre-enrol (see How to pre-enrol) and pay a €50 fee to reserve your place. Once you have obtained your degree, you can enrol until 31 March 2026 by writing to the online office registration.

If you graduate before the deadline for your course, you can enrol directly (see How to enrol).

Once you have paid the University will send you an enrolment confirmation email to the email address you provided when you enrolled, with your matriculation number and your institutional email address (e.g. nome.cognome@studenti.unipr.it).

ELIGIBLE WITH REQUIREMENTS TO BE INTEGRATED

This outcome can be given for different reasons, depending on the type of requirement to be integrated.

These are the possible scenarios for this outcome:

  • Case 1: you have a degree, but you do not meet the requirement

You have already graduated, but you do not have sufficient credits in certain subject areas or meet other requirements that guarantee your eligibility.

You can proceed with the matriculation application by paying the first instalment of €156 (see 'How to matriculate'), but you will not receive your matriculation number until you have met the requirements.

Once you have fulfilled the missing requirements, you must attach the relevant documents to your application on Esse3 – Online Secretariat.
The committee will receive an email each time you upload documents.

The committee will then re-evaluate your application. If you are found to be eligible and have paid the €156 fee, the university will send you an email to the address you provided during registration. This email will confirm your enrolment and contain your matriculation number, as well as your institutional email address (e.g. nome.cognome@studenti.unipr.it).

You have until 31 March 2026 to fulfil the remaining requirements.

  • Case 2: you have not obtained a three-year degree and do not meet the requirements

You have not yet graduated and do not have sufficient credits in certain subject areas, or other requirements, that guarantee your eligibility, or when there is an assessment of your degree grade.

If you already know that you will not be able to complete your three-year degree by the deadline for your course, you must pre-register (see How to pre-register) by paying a fee of EUR 50 to reserve your place.

Once you graduate, you must either obtain the missing credits or requirements or simply upload your degree and grade, if the latter was the missing requirement.

The committee will receive an email each time you add attachments, re-assess your application and award you the outcome:

-> eligible, if you have fulfilled the requirements that you lacked. If you have previously pre-enrolled, you will need to contact your student secretariat to arrange payment of the first instalment of €156.
Otherwise, you can proceed directly with enrolment (see 'How to enrol').
In both cases, once you have paid the €156 fee, the university will send you an email confirming your enrolment to the email address you provided during registration. This email will contain your matriculation number and details of your institutional email address (e.g. nome.cognome@studenti.unipr.it).

-> eligible, but have requirements to be completed, the commission will give you instructions.

  • Case 3: you have not obtained your degree and the course of study has a binding degree grade threshold for enrolment

This last case is yours if you have not yet graduated and one of the entry requirements is also a degree grade.

If you already know that you will not be able to graduate by the deadline for your course, you must pre-enrol (see How to pre-enrol) and pay a fee of €50 to reserve your place.

If, on the other hand, you graduate within the deadline of your course, you must wait for the committee to assess your grade and then proceed with enrolment (see How to enrol).

Once you have graduated, you will have to attach the corresponding documents to your application in Esse3 - Segreteria online.

The committee will receive an email each time you add attachments, reassess your application and award you the result:

-> eligible if your degree grade is equal to or higher than the threshold
If you have pre-enrolled, you will need to contact your student secretariat to arrange payment of the first instalment of €156.
Otherwise, you can enrol directly (see 'How to enrol').
In both cases, once you have paid the €156 fee, the university will send you an email confirming your enrolment and containing your matriculation number, as well as an email containing your institutional email address (e.g. nome.cognome@studenti.unipr.it).

-> ineligible if your degree grade is below the threshold.

-> eligible with requirements to be supplemented: if you lack other career requirements, the committee will give you instructions on what to do.

INCOMPLETE DOCUMENTATION

If you have not attached the necessary documents and the committee is unable to assess your requirements, you will receive the outcome 'under evaluation with incomplete documentation'.

In this case, your application will remain pending until you provide the missing documents. The committee will then conduct a new evaluation.

NOT ELIGIBLE

You are assessed as not eligible if the committee rejects your application because your degree requirements are not compatible with the entry requirements for the second-cycle degree course you have selected.

How to enrol

For most courses, you must complete the registration process between 12pm on 16 July and 12pm on 19 December.

  • pay at any authorized bank or through another payment system accepted by PagoPA (for information on the payment system PagoPA consult the dedicated page).

The University will then send, to the e-mail address provided during registration, a registration confirmation e-mail containing the matriculation number and the institutional e-mail address (eg: nome.cognome@studenti.unipr.it).

Pre-enrollment

If you already know that you will not be able to obtain the three-year degree by the registration deadline (19 December), you must submit an application for verification of requirements by 12pm on 10 December 2025 and, once you have obtained the qualification, pre-register by 12pm on 19 December 2025.

Recovery of curricular requirements

If, at the end of the evaluation, you have to recover missing credits and therefore are eligible/ to with requirements to be integrated you can access for free the path "Recovery curricular requirements" through the achievement of individual lessons to be completed by March 31, 2026.

The course "Curricular requirements recovery" is reserved for people who wish to enroll in a master’s degree course of the University of Parma but who do not yet have the career requirements required for access (see paragraph Outcomes: what to do?> ELIGIBLE/ELIGIBLE> Case 1: You have a bachelor’s degree but not the required requirements.

By accessing the "Curriculum requirements recovery" path you can achieve a maximum of 30 CFU.

In this case you can proceed with the registration application by paying the first instalment (156 euros), but you will not get the registration number until you have integrated your requirements and, in your application within Esse3 - Online Secretariat will appear the wording "Requirements to be integrated" (see Outcomes: what to do?> ELIGIBLE/ELIGIBLE> Case 1: You have a bachelor’s degree but you do not meet the requirements).

Please note that, as these activities are exclusively preparatory to the access to the master’s degree course, the path does not entitle you to the issuance of certificates related to the passing of the exams.

If you want to obtain the certificates of the examinations or in Case 2: You have no bachelor’s degree and do not meet the required career requirements, you must make the standard registration procedure for the individual courses paying the required contribution.
