Distortion-based watermarking techniques embed a watermark by making tolerable modifications to the protected digital asset. For relational data, watermark insertion can leverage the different data types of attributes in a database relation. A key objective of distortion-based approaches is to minimize the changes introduced by the watermark while preserving data usability and enhancing robustness. In this talk, we explore how the structure of relational data enables effective watermarking techniques. We also examine how different data types influence watermarking strategies, allowing for ownership protection without restricting data copying, deployment, access, or management.
