Event description

How can we determine the area of a shape when it cannot be measured directly? In this workshop, we will explore various ways of determining area, including decomposition and rearrangement, Pick’s theorem, and the Monte Carlo method. We will focus on approaches that can be adapted for mathematics teaching at primary and lower-secondary school, offering opportunities for students to discover mathematical relationships, reason about area, and explore both exact and approximate methods of measurement.
